MANILA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Five workers were killed and 55 others injured when a four-storey bunkhouse collapsed at dawn on Tuesday in the central Philippine city of Cebu, disaster officials said.
Disaster officials said the accident occurred around 3:00 a.m. in Luz, a village in Cebu City. Five of those injured were seriously injured and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
At least 153 workers reportedly spent the night at the bunkhouse which was made of metal scaffoldings and other construction materials.
Rescue operations have been continuing, officials said.
