RIO DE JANEIRO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced Thursday that it has signed a firm order for 15 jets with U.S. airline American Airlines.
According to Embraer, the order for 15 E175 jets, at a cost of 705 million U.S. dollars, will be included in the aircraft manufacturer's backlog for the second quarter of 2018.
Deliveries are expected to take place between March and November 2019. Combined with the airline's three previous orders for the E175, this new contract results in a total of 89 E175 jets for American Airlines.
The 15 jets, which will be configured with a total of 76 seats, with 12 in the first class and 64 in the main cabin, will be operated by American Airlines' subsidiary Envoy.
The E175 jet is one of Embraer's most successful models. The company has sold over 400 units of E175 jet since 2013.
