TOKYO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Tuesday morning as the yen regaining ground against the U.S. dollar dented market sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 1.65 points, or 0.01 percent, from Monday to 23,000.72.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.59 points, or 0.2 percent, at 1,810.16.
Mining, insurance and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
