TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian official said Iran will export bio-fertilizers to the African continent, Eghtesdanonline reported Monday.
"Under the agreement signed in this regard, Iranian knowledge-based companies active in the field of agriculture and biotechnology will export their products to African countries," Eghtesdanonline cited Mostafa Qanei, vice president of Iran's Biotechnology Development Department (BDD), as saying.
Agriculture plays an important role in boosting the economy in African countries, Qanei said.
Bio-fertilizers can have a lucrative market in African countries, the Iranian official added.
BDD intends to pave the way for the permanent presence of Iranian knowledge-based companies in Africa by creating scenic agricultural farms and appropriate spaces, he said.
"Transfer of technical know-how and conclusion of contracts between Iran and Uganda are among the missions of the BDD," Qanei added.
