TOKYO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Wednesday morning as Wall Street's overnight gains set a positive tone with sentiment bolstered by solid domestic corporate earnings, while investors digested exit polls of the U.S. midterm elections.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 272.87 points, or 1.23 percent, from Tuesday to 22,420.62.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 18.04 points, or 1.09 percent, at 1,677.39.
Marine transportation, glass and ceramics product, and information and communication-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
