KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- A Kuwaiti minister said on Sunday that Kuwait and Iraq are prepared to strengthen cooperation in various fields, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The remarks were made by Kuwaiti Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, after Iraqi President Barham Salih arrived in Kuwait for an official visit earlier in the day, KUNA said.
During a meeting between Salih and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to upgrade the frameworks of cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
They also discussed ways to support security and stability of Iraq to achieve its unity and territorial integrity, efforts to combat and eliminate terrorism, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
After the meeting, Salih told the press that Iraq and Kuwait are joined by ties of close historical relations and their common aspirations for a prosperous future of the two countries.
He expressed his hope to see more Kuwaiti investment projects in Iraq to serve the interests of both countries.
