BERLIN, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Schalke's attacking midfielder Alessandro Schoepf, defensive midfielder Benjamin Stambouli and striker Steven Skrzybski will be out of action due to injuries, the "Royal Blues" confirmed in an official statement on Saturday.
Despite securing one point on the road in Friday's 2-2 with Hertha Berlin, Schalke will be without three players for some time.
All three players couldn't continue and had to be replaced within the 90 minutes against Berlin.
Berlin's Karim Rekik fouled Alessandro Schoepf, who suffered an injury in his left knee.
The Austrian international will consult knee specialists in the coming days to clarify if a surgery is needed. In any case, the attacking midfielder will be out for at least eight to 10 weeks.
Benjamin Stambouli clashed with Arne Meier and sustained a cheekbone fracture, which will need a surgery. However, the defensive midfielder could return with a carbon mask at the end of February.
To make things worse, striker Steven Skrzybski suffered a torn hamstring in his right thigh and will be sidelined for approximately two weeks.
The "Royal Blues" sit currently on the 12th place of the standings. The injury-hit side encounter runners-up Borussia Monchengladbach in the 20th round of Bundesliga on Saturday. Enditem
