ACCRA, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Ghana has joined the top 50 teams in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday.
The West African nation climbed three places up from the 51st position it occupied in the last edition of the table to rank 49th in this month's ranking, after gaining 11 points to increase its points build-up from 1412 to 1423 points.
In Africa, the country is ranked sixth ahead of Cameroon as well as Egypt, the host of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana beat Kenya 1-0 last month to seal a Group F top spot and a 22nd AFCON qualification, before defeating Mauritania 3-1 three days later in an international friendly played at the Accra sports stadium.
Positions at the very top of the world table remain unchanged, with Belgium leading the pack followed by France, Brazil and England in that order.
The country will know its group opponents in the 2019 AFCON when the draw is held in Cairo on April 12. Enditem
