YANGON, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's border trade using Individual Trading Cards (ITC) has reached over 46.6 billion kyats (31 million U.S. dollars) as of June 14 in the current fiscal year 2018-2019, the Commerce Ministry said on Thursday.
During the period, the country's export value through border gates using 126 issued ITCs was 7.5 billion kyats (5 million U.S. dollars) while its import showed 39 billion kyats (26 million U.S. dollars).
From Oct. 1 last year to June 14 this year, Myawady border gate topped the list with a trade value of 25.1 billion kyats (16.8 million U.S. dollars) among a total of 20 checkpoints where Myanmar conducts border trade.
The Commerce Ministry has issued a total of 1,650 ITCs so far since FY 2012-2013, totaling the trade value of 156.8 billion kyats (104.5 million U.S. dollars).
Myanmar mainly exports agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products to neighboring countries while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are imported into the country.
