RIYADH, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Defense Ministry accused on Wednesday Iran of being involved in attacks against civilians in the kingdom.
The spokesperson of the ministry Turki Al Maliki told a press conference aired on Al Arabiya TV that the involvements of Iran come through its proxies in the region, citing the right of his country to protect its lands.
The press conference showed photos of the remains of missiles that targeted two plants of the Saudi Oil Company (Aramco) on Saturday that caused temporary suspension of operation in the two facilities. The attacks halved the oil production of Saudi Arabia.
He said that the attacks on the two plants "were from the north and defiantly supported by Iran."
Maliki also pointed out that high-tech cruise missiles were used in the attack on the Aramco facilities, and the drones that attacked the two plants used an advanced positioning system.
