BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's call for joint efforts to push for global economic recovery in his speech at China's ongoing services trade fair has injected momentum into the world economy amid the COVID-19 crisis, analysts say.
"Today, with COVID-19 yet to be brought under full control at the global level, all countries face the formidable task to defeat the virus, stabilize the economy, and protect livelihoods," Xi said, while addressing the Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) via video on Friday.
"It is against such a backdrop that China decided to hold this important international trade event despite many difficulties in preparation. It shows China's willingness to join hands with all of you in this trying time and work together to enable global trade in services to thrive and the world economy to recover at an early date," he said.
China's holding of the CIFTIS at the moment reflects China's firm stance on further opening-up, advocating cooperation and promoting world economic recovery, said Abdulaziz Alshaabani, a Saudi journalist and China expert.
Since the coronavirus outbreak, Saudi Arabia's consumption concepts and consumption mode have undergone significant changes, Alshaabani said, adding that the cooperation in the field of e-commerce between the two countries has enormous potential.
Likewise, French writer Sonia Bressler said that "I am impressed by the fact that China continues its policy of opening-up at a time when (some) countries tend to withdraw inward."
"I am quite fascinated by the diversity of companies and countries represented at the Fair and the technologies proposed there," Bressler added.
Noting that Xi has reiterated China's commitment to further opening up, Piotr Gadzinowski, editor-in-chief of Polish newspaper "Trybuna," said that "I believe that China will fulfill its promises, contribute in the efforts to bring the globe back to normal soon."
"It serves the benefit of people all over the world," Gadzinowski added. Enditem
